Pre-Production Consultation

Our goal is to provide our customers with great resin miniatures, that does not stop with great 3D renders. Details that look great on a PC screen may not always translate as a 32mm model. Without this understanding, features aren’t picked up with paint, joints and mouldines cross details. Models that could be awesome lose that incredible detail.

About our pre-production services

NG Castings understands how to get the best out of your sculpt so it maintains its character, but details remain crisp on the table and joints and other production considerations are unobtrusive. 

We offer a pre-production consultation service on your models to split the model in the best way ready for production and your customer experience. All while being cost efficient.

Things to consider when splitting a model

• Where will the air vents be? Do they impace the model once assembled?

• Will mouldines be visible on the assembled model and are they on a cleanable area?

• What splits are required for the model to come out the silicone mould smoothly and allowing for cost efficient mould design?

If you want to get even more out your model, we also can advise on adjusting the sculpt of your model so parts are robust, details are crisp and production limitations are mitigated. Small changes to the model can reduce part count, and parts that are necessary to split can be made invisible to the customer. Mould-lines are minimizable through skilled casting, but with our consultation your models can be split and adapted so the lines will be hidden and cleanable. 

Things to consider when making production adjustments:

• What details are too thin or small to be cast in resin and look great on the table?

• Are there undercuts which will break silicone moulds meaning subsiquent casts will have damage?

• Can a high part couny be reduced by making subtle changes to the product.
