3D printing as a production method

3D printing for masters

For digital sculpts, a master is used to make the many sub-masters in a silicone production mould. We 3D print this master at a 20 micron resolution, leaving incredibly crisp detail. The masters are then hand finished, leaving a high quality master ready for resin production

3d printing for production

Resin casting is great as a lower up front cost compared to injection moulding. You know whats lower than resin? 3D printing! If part count is a concern for you, 3D printing can make models one piece that would need assembly if cast in resin.This makes is a great solution for low numbered runs. or even large pieces which can be made hollow

Kits that require less assembly

3D printing can also be used to print more intracate parts than would survive inside a silicone mould as a resin part- the only thing to consider is if it also needs to survive the rigors of clumsy hands on the tabletop
